Description

How big? Large How old? Adult Male or female? Female Living with kids? I can live with children (8+) Living with dogs? I can live with other dogs Resident dog required? No Living with cats? I've not been tested with cats Where can I live? I'd like an active home with a garden Where am I from? Cyprus, now in foster in Berkshire About Pepper Pepper was brought into the shelter after being found as a heavily pregnant stray and shortly after arriving gave birth to five puppies, who were adopted at the age of four months old. Unfortunately, Pepper got left behind and had no adoption interest for an entire year. We made the decision to bring her to a foster home in the UK to give people the opportunity to meet her and see just how wonderful she really is. Pepper is an utterly beautiful dog. She has the most gorgeous eyes and thick coat, and on top of that she also boasts a wonderful character. Her front legs are a very gentle brindle/brown colour, and when she crosses her paws she looks so regal. In fact she’s been given the nickname Princess Pepper by her fosters, who are convinced she thinks she’s moved in with her own loyal servants! Pepper is a very trusting, affectionate and friendly girl. Although she may look wolf-like, she has a silly and sweet personality and she adores humans. Even back at the shelter when her pups were newborns, Pepper trusted people to come into her kennel and handle her babies. She never so much as growled. Pepper shared her kennel with numerous dogs over her year spent there. She never had an issue with her kennel-mates, and we think she could live with other dogs, but she’s definitely confident enough to be the only resident dog too. She’s never shown any issues socialising with other dogs and despite her size, which might be unnerving for some smaller dogs, she is generally very chilled. Being a Shepherd mix, Pepper is really smart and would pick up new commands and training easily if she was given some 1-2-1 focus. She is keen to please and would benefit from some entry level training and the minimum to instil a strong bond between her and her new family, but she would also just enjoy learning. She would welcome an active lifestyle, surrounded by lovely places to walk and explore, and would definitely prefer a home outside of the city with access to a garden. She was also quick to convince her foster family that she should be allowed on the sofa, so she also loves napping in comfort now. Pepper has always been lovely around people, but has had limited exposure to children whilst in our care. We don’t foresee any issues based on her temperament, but simply due to her size we would recommend she is rehomed with children aged 8+ ideally, unless the children have experience living with big dogs. This girl has been one of our favourites for a long time and we hope now that she’s in the UK prospective adopters will be able to see just how special she is. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving and outdoorsy dog who’s also a bit of a social butterfly and loves a snuggle on the sofa, she’s your girl. Pepper is currently based in Berkshire and is ready to meet her forever family!
