Having to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome my girl due to behavioural issues related to spraying & toileting outside the litter box.
This began as she reached adolescence in 2015. I can no longer manage with a baby who needs a clean home due to kidney condition and persistent UTI’s. I have to clean up after my cat 2-5 times a day. Always have and it won’t stop. Definitely behavioural, had a full blood and urine workup recently and there’s no reason for concern. Trialled steroid injections in relation to soft stools caused by inflammation of the intestine which was successful but I couldn’t continue as I ended up on maternity pay. However, the behavioural issues around toileting remained the same.
I have done all I can, but I have to put my baby’s health first. Shelters are full and waiting lists are too long. I have maintained and cleaned up after her for almost a decade, but I can no longer commit as her behavioural issues pose a health risk to my daughter as she’s going to be more mobile soon. It hurts me so much but I’m only human I can’t keep up anymore and it’s bringing me down having to do this. She deserves someone who can see her into her senior years.
