We are heartbroken to be looking for a new home for Jeff due to a change in circumstances. He’s an energetic and agile little terrier, yet still a true lap dog who loves to burrow under a blanket or curl up on your lap. Jeff will be four in May.
He lived with his doggy mum until he was six months old, and we’ve loved having him as part of our family ever since. However, he isn’t adjusting well to our new baby, and we want to ensure he has the best possible life—one we can no longer give him.
Jeff is neutered and registered to our address. He has been undergoing intensive training for the past two years due to leash reactivity and is currently on a waiting list to see a clinical behaviourist. We are committed to seeing this through until Jeff is rehomed. He’s vocal when he sees other dogs and tends to want to dominate when he meets them. This has made walks stressful for him and us, so his outdoor time has been more limited than we’d like.
At home, he has typical Jack Russell energy but is responsive to commands and would settle into a routine quickly. He absolutely adores his tennis ball (more than life itself!). He’s always been interested in children and generally loves them, but he hasn’t taken well to our new baby, so we believe a child-free home would be best to avoid reactivity.
Jeff would thrive in a home with:
* No cats or other dogs (though we’d consider a trial if you're experienced with terriers, as he does enjoy playing with some dogs).
* A stable routine and experience with reactive dogs.
* A work-from-home owner who can give him plenty of attention—ideally, someone happy for him to sleep nearby at night (he’s happiest in his own bed in your room).
* A large outdoor space – Jeff’s exercise is currently limited to our back garden due to his reactivity, so he needs a secure outdoor area where he can sniff around and play ball.
Jeff weighs around 5kg and is currently on a hypoallergenic dry food diet after a suspected ulcer (now fully healed).
We’d also love to stay in touch with occasional updates on Jeff’s progress, and we’d be more than happy to dog-sit if practical.
He’s an absolute legend, and this is truly heartbreaking for us. The price reflects what we originally paid and is only listed to ensure genuine interest.
