Description

Meet Romy Approx. 3 years old Small/Medium sized Female Available for Foster or Foster with the view to Adopt Currently in Barham CT4 Transport Provided Anywhere in the UK Meet Romy, “Romy is a nervous girl with visitors however is making incredible progress, the resident dogs in her home are helping build her confidence, she can be more reserved and hide if on her own however she has never shown any aggression and is a very gentle girl. Romy can be nervous of men and struggles with them, she would therefore need a female primary carer and any males in the home will need to be patient to gain her trust and teach her they are safe. Romy is the sweetest girl in the world, she just needs time. She likes the quiet life and sleeps so happily by the fire and loves running the woods more than anything. She is so funny when you let her be her odd little self, she can be playful and will often play with toys on her own and you can see that she never got to be a puppy. She wants to be part of a family so bad and she really tries. She talks all the time by squeaking when she is happy” 💞 Romy has never been around children, due to her friendly but nervous nature it is felt that she would be good with children 12+ following sensible introductions 👶 Romy currently shares her home with other dogs who she is very attached to, she gains lots of confidence from them and will need another doggie companion in her new home. She plays very well with them and often wags her tail with happiness. She loves to play with other dogs out and about on walks and when at work with her owner, she would play and loves to be chased around by them. Unfortunately this has regressed since her move. The resident dog in Romy's home has become old and very unpredictable and unfortunately is attacking Romy on a regular basis, we do feel this may also be impacting Romy's behaviours 🐾 Romy loves cats and gets very excited with happy squeaks when she sees them. She never chases the cats and loves to be around them, she can therefore live with cats with sensible introductions 🐈 Romy accepts a harness and lead, she isn't a fan of a collar and can find this restricting. She walks well on the lead however can sometimes become overexcited which can cause her to turn in circles, this can be managed. Since living with other dogs Romy can be reactive towards dogs while on walks if they approach her which can cause her to bark at them, she copes okay from a distance. It is thought this may be due to her trying to protect the resident dogs. Romy would prefer a home in a quieter area and for someone to continue her training on this and building her confidence on walks. Romy enjoys her walks and loves being outside especially in the woods, she can struggle walking on her own and prefers to have the company of other dogs 🐕‍🦺 Romy is toilet trained but is not crate trained. Romy has recently chewed her bed on occasions however, it is felt this is due to boredom due to reducing her walks. She can be left alone for up to 7-8 hours however it is felt she would prefer someone who is home most of the time. She can be unsettled during the night which can cause her to pace around, she can be heard playing with the other dogs and will sometimes bark too, she will need work on her sleeping pattern in her new home. Romy has shown some guarding behaviours with food with unknown dogs however once she is comfortable this doesn't occur and is very manageable. Romy is currently being walked very minimally due to the reactivity, this is having a huge impact on her and causing her to be incredibly bored with no mental simulation, this means she will bark during the day when she isn't getting the attention she needs. She is a special girl who needs a special home, she is not overly affectionate however will rest her little head on the sofa next to you for a head stroke. In the right environment she will thrive 💞 If you would like to welcome this lovely girl into your home, please apply: https://www.pawprints2freedom.co.uk/apply or email: secondchancers@pawprints2freedom.co.uk ✅ NEUTERED ✅ VACCINATED ✅ CHIPPED ⭐ Homecheck and adoption fees apply ⭐ Lifetime rescue back up provided Romy SC - 038A
