Meet Jasper
Jasper is a beautiful, intelligent, and affectionate 3-year-old KC-registered show cocker spaniel who thrives in a structured, calm environment. He is incredibly playful, loves nothing more than chasing his ball, and is happiest when he has a job to do. He bonds deeply with his person and can be a truly wonderful companion in the right setting.
Jasper is highly toy-motivated, learns quickly, and enjoys training when done with patience and consistency. In a home that understands his needs, he has the potential to flourish.
However, Jasper also struggles with fear-based anxiety, which manifests as reactivity towards other dogs, strangers, and young children. Because of this, he needs a very experienced home where he can feel safe and supported.
Why We Are Rehoming Him
This is an incredibly difficult decision for us. We have worked with multiple behaviourists, invested significant time and money into training, and tried different approaches, including chemical castration (which unfortunately worsened his fear and anxiety).
Now that we have a 21-month-old son, we are unable to provide the level of training and structured environment Jasper needs while ensuring our child's safety. Jasper has shown reactivity towards our son, including barking and growling, even when being held.
We love him deeply, but we now realise that his needs would be better met in a home without young children or other pets, where he can receive the focus and understanding he deserves.
What Jasper Needs
✅ Experienced, Confident Dog Owner – He is not suitable for a first-time owner. He needs someone who understands reactive, anxious dogs and can provide clear leadership.
✅ Calm, Child-Free & Pet-Free Home – Jasper’s anxiety is triggered by young children and other animals. A quiet, structured household would be best for him.
✅ No Castration – His anxiety worsened after chemical castration, so we require that he remains intact.
✅ On-Lead at All Times in Public – Due to his reactivity towards other dogs and strangers, he cannot be let off the lead.
✅ Secure Garden & Mental Stimulation – Jasper loves to run, play fetch, and work his brain with puzzles and tasks.
✅ Ball & Toy Motivated – He thrives on structured playtime and engagement with his owner.
The Right Home for Jasper
Jasper and his fear-based reactivity needs careful management. In the right home—with an experienced, confident owner who can provide structure and reassurance—he will become a devoted and loving companion.
Our top priority is finding him a safe, understanding, and patient environment where he can thrive.
This decision has been made solely out of concern for Jasper’s wellbeing and our son’s safety. We will only consider genuine, committed adopters who can give him the stability he needs.
