Totally honest advert to find a good home for Otto my mums standard wire haired dachshund. He’s been living with me and my family since November due to mothers ill health and lengthy hospitalisation, since her discharge she just can’t manage his needs and it’s unfair on him to keep him now. He is such a sweet loving dog who really does deserve a person/family of his own. He lives with 4 other dogs at the moment and gets on really well with our terrier but I think he needs an only dog house to really get the best out of him. I have 4 children from 11-3 so he’s very used to children aswell as cats. He loves to snuggle up by the fire and have his ears played with or his tummy rubbed.
Otto has a down side though, hence why he can’t stay with me! He has started to chase and kill my chickens, ducks, turkeys and has chased my sheep. He has such a strong prey drive and we’ve tried everything but the welfare of my stock comes first.
We feel so guilty but mother just can’t look after him and I can’t afford to have him killing my animals so the very hard decision has been made to rehome him to a knowledgeable dachshund friendly home. He’s good on the lead, comes when called (for the most part…dachshund does as dachshunds do!) he’s crate trained and easy in the house, he travels well either in the crate or boot and he just craves affection!
