Description
Are there any true horse lovers out there, who when they say they are looking for a rescue companion/pet is actually looking to help a real rescue pony, not just looking to help themselves to a perfect, fully backed, papered 15.2hh horse delivered for free to their front door? Freddo is a real rescue pony. In fact it is a miracle he is even alive. Just six months ago he was so weak & thin he could barely stand. His legs would cross/be all over the place & he struggled to take corners. He had to be lifted of the horsebox. Having been one of the smallest in a field of 20 colts/stallions + a few mares/fillies he had not fared well. He was riddled with worms, covered in lice & his feet were long & rotten. He was so nervous & still is a tiny bit with new people, as he had likely been bullied & had never previously been handled but getting there. Having spent a very wet winter in a muddy field his one leg also has a large scar believed to have been from untreated mud rash turned into an untreated infected wound. It was touch & go if he would make it but he was not sick & we decided with the vet to try our best to save him. Six months later he has come on in leaps & bounds & is continuing to surpass all expectations. We are so excited. He might yet come right but as we cannot say for sure he will, he is being re-homed as a companion, pet or possibly future therapy pony to a suitable kind home. A home that will love even a small, unique, adorable, rare, approx. 10hh little mini-Welsh rescue pony, who is not likely to win shows or make them lots of money. As he is an approx. 2 1/2 year old 'lad' (colt) he will also soon need gelding either with persons local vet or maybe at one of the cheap castration clinics up & down the country. (Can advise further.) The good thing is he is microchipped, passported & all up to date with worming, feet, 1st & 2nd Flue & Tetanus etc. which can save someone a lot. Can't say he is perfect for trims & jabs, but due to his size can hardly be said to be hard either. With seeing the farrier every six weeks, my girl picking his feet & his balance getting better I think he will soon be easy enough. Freddo has also been here six months & been through isolation with no sign of sickness, laminitis, asthma or sweet itch. Once tamed he was turned away on summer grazing with his friend under the supervision of an old experienced (non-cycling) foster 'mum' to bulk out/get some muscles, build his confidence & just learn how to be a polite little pony. Done wonders! He is so happy & getting so fit. He comes cantering across the field when my kids call & enjoys a good scratch. Has so much love to give & my girl has got such a good bond with him. She is experienced in taming & training youngster & although he could still benefit from more handling. Would love a person, family or horsey friend of his own to fuss over him & hang out with him. Freddo is good to get headcollar on, walk along the road, across the main road, into the forest & around the farm. He is good to be tied up, brushed, wormed, washed, rugged up and clipped. I presume when it comes to loading/travelling he will likely just follow my daughter on - our ponies usually do. If he gets nervous he might just need some one to play mum, give him a scratch & reassure him by gently blowing back up his nostril to let him know everything will be fine. Freddo can live in or out & has got on fine with other ponies. Although you of course do not put a little fellow with a big aggressive bully he can, I am happy to say, normally to a healthy degree stand up for himself - he had to. Now he has gained condition, had everything done & his stifle lock etc has got so much better he is ready for a kind home. I am sure it wont be long till he steals your heart & makes you laugh with his cute little antics/funny yawns etc. When Niko Omilana said everyone needs a Freddo he was right, but unfortunately since he did not get into power our little Freddo wont be 5p. His fee, for welfare reasons, to ensure a good home & to cover some of the expenses will be £450 as seen to kind person - not for profit, full ownership transferred. Passport & signed receipt given. Freddo is open to viewing & vetting. Open & honest advise given. If interested & able to re-home just please message on her, text or call on 07387632973 to arrange a no obligation viewing. Free local or cheap cost price UK wide transport can be sorted same or next day. No charge for our time as we do it for the love of it. We hope he is what/who you are looking for but if not that is fine. We want him to go to a genuine animal lover who will love him, enjoy him & look well after him - even if not a Hoys winner or walking dollar sign. In our opinion all rescues/horses are precious & all have the potential to make a real difference to some one's life even if not perfect. Thanks for reading! Look forward to introducing you to our little Freddo miracle!x P.S. Any money will be used to help put right his three similar & also seriously neglected tiny sisters, we later managed to save looking more akin to wound covered, thin, curled up, starved large dogs than ponies. They too against all odds are coming on. They are so grateful just to have something to eat & could, all being well, in time might possibly join Little Freddo in his new home - should the person, family or little pony business, who rehomed him, like to be considered/like to have four little matching black Welsh 'minis'.
