Description

Male dachshund cross cavapoo for rehome. He is called Teddy / Buddy, Buddy more so nowadays but as he does look like a teddy bear we do slip up. He is a little sweetheart who likes to cuddle up on the couch when you call him up and follow you around. He is great in the crate and can be left alone for around 5 to 6 hours (what I've done) after a walk and some play / training. He's a real foodie and I use this mostly in training sessions, kongs, snuffle mats or anything else I can do to help him learn or tire him out. I very rarely use his bowl but when I do I use a slow feeder. He's on raw and a bit of biscuits so I can take it out on walks with me. He is quite smart so if you're a lover of dog training, he would be a great partner. I'd say he's got more of the dachshund qualities than cavapoo ones. He can be vocal sometimes but it's not constant like some dachshunds are and it usually has a purpose. I ignore the noise when he does bark / whine unless it's a "I'm thirty bark". He does make different noises for different things so if you don't mind a bit of barking now and then, he might be the one for you. The people he knows and sees often, he's super comfortable with. He is fine with people that ignore him and if they come often enough they'll be part of his pack but random people he'd rather not interact with so I usually tell people he doesn't like to be touched as he'd naturally move away than towards strangers. He does walk nicely on lead, although if you let him, he'd happily lead you to wherever his nose wants him to go. He was a very excitable puppy when we got him, a bit of a humper. He doesn't hump nowadays, not since his snip but probably would give it a good try if he got over excited and there was something long enough to grip onto. With that in mind, he has always been excitable around dogs and because he was a humper I haven't been to over crowded dog parks. He's not shown aggression towards dogs that I've seen but his frustration has turned into lead reactivity and we have been working on this but you never know the right thing to do so half of the time I don't know if I'm helping or hindering. It's something the new owner would need to consider and really think about whether they'd be OK working with this. We will sell him with all of his stuff. I can't think of everything we have but here's a quick list, X2 kongs X1 crate X1 raised bed X2 blankets X3 bowls (one slow feeder and x2 I use for water) X3 flirt poles X1 bag of sheep skin for his tug toys X3 or 4 toys that are tug ones but smaller X1 toy box X3 snuffle mats and x1 snuffle ball X1 coat X2 leads (maybe 3 as I have a long line, a slip and a clip on to the collar) And of course the dog. He'd probably do best being rehomed after a few visits but we'd have to see as dogs can surprise you and he may click with you, who knows. If you want more details, please ask.
