Description
Would really appreciate if people read carefully what we have written then apply directly to us through our website - there are more videos and updates on our public facebook page too. Alvin approx. 9 month old Poodle mix boy being fostered in Gloucestershire in adult family home with other dogs and a cat. Alvin had now been in our care long enough for us to start giving a more detailed profile on his progress in our care after being given up with a group older Poodles along with himself and his brother Charlie. Was vey sad to see him so scared when he came in no hint of what a 9 month puppy should be like was a very worried little boy. He has obviously seen nothing of the outside world. Very scared and quiet its taken a while but now we are starting to come on leaps and bounds which often happens the younger they are. His inner puppy is there tugging at the bed when I try and make it, zoomies around the garden, trying to get Silver to play with him, bouncing up to the cat. He is the sweetest little gentle soul. He has attended an agility show and like Silver was so amazing how he coped at such a busy place, so many people wanted to say hello to him and he even took treats off a baby, he has never walked on a harness before but really started to get the hang of it. Taking it all in https://youtube.com/shorts/s1NsLBrhLTE?si=dXmgdcDINvF2ZSAr Walking on his harness for the first time https://youtube.com/shorts/AYb8eaf-grw?si=FyXDZs_wbR6zcUus Being brave and making friends https://youtube.com/shorts/oE-QBgm5AJU?si=L9gmGVDLUxHwNI4T Out and about on walks he is starting to explore of the lead now and its lovely to see him doing this, this is in very quiet areas where we rarely bump into anyone https://youtube.com/shorts/FqE7MNwbggA?si=7HlY-nrut4lYHYzA https://youtube.com/shorts/d1hNotQa3Hk?si=faF0bYgl9JEs0WG- https://youtube.com/shorts/L-WrvQ9kGdg?si=4I8ouSWjmvB23aN3 https://youtube.com/shorts/9hAaSkcVDSg?si=qhpxO5wTQHUmctIr He has bonded with little Silver an older dog who has taken him under his wing and they love snuggling up together and gets comfort from being so close either with Silver or his humans. He is very sweet around the other dogs a very gentle soul. He is fine around the cat and has tried to play with her a few times much to her disgust. Playing with his best friend Silver https://youtube.com/shorts/3OCioFS1Kvw?si=KXaj7zDIz-J-6yJX Starting to look like a normal puppy https://youtube.com/shorts/7EeJHXMzSxc?si=xUmtQ2Ki2rBPD3u_ He is very friendly with people who visit once he feels safe, very sweet lovely natured gentle boy who so enjoys a cuddle. He without doubt will need another dogs or dog - a dog who will let him bond with them, play with him and be his mentor as the outside world is still very scary for him - he is a lovely dog with a beautiful temperament he will just need the right people to navigate him through everything he has missed out on socially in his early months - he is not going to suit living in a busy city or town nor a busy family home. Again he will need an experience family who have had rescue dogs before and will guide him through everything and help him adjust to normal life and help him learn not to be scared. He is making progress every day and he will get there with the right people. He is a kind lovely dog. He sleeps in the utility room with Silver with no problems, I leave puppy pads down at night which are sometimes used. House training I would say is 85% when there are accidents its been my fault because I have not taken him out . He travels well in the car and will just settle down in his crate. Health wise, he has been to the Vets, he has infected puppy teeth that have not come out which are going to be removed later this week together with a retained testicular I suspect the reason he was not sold. He also had ear mites and is receiving treatment for them along with starting his vaccinations. Having his Vet check when he first came in https://youtube.com/shorts/GsVszWc6eT4?si=-FMoTdsjixGoB03F If you feel you could offer Alvin the right home please feel free to email us for our questionnaire in the first instance at starfishdogrescue@hotmail.co.uk
