Description
Carrie is a large sized girl who keeps getting overlooked by potential adopters due to her size. She is beautiful and majestic in stature, but in her heart she believes she’s only a little dog. This lovely lady is also a very sweet and goofy girl by nature. She needs an adult-only home, with no cats, but could have a doggy friend (pending positive introductions).
She needs a calm and quiet household where she can spend her days hogging the sofa (you’d be surprised how prawn-like she can make herself when she needs to fit in a comfy spot!). Although she enjoys her walks, she has previously had surgery on her cruciate ligament so shorter walks and plenty of ‘taking it easy’ moments are important for her.
She would love a large sized garden to potter around in, where she can rest in the sunny spots. She would also like her adopters to have an understanding that she can be quite afraid of the big wide world. She is a scaredy girl who can be a little unsure of new things, so easy and slowly does it.
Due to her uncertainty of new things, she can find strange people and dogs a little worrying at first, and can bark at them, but she is responding well to positive reinforcement training. She just needs someone to invest some time and patience in her.
Carrie has lots of doggie friends at the kennels and volunteers and staff have no issues handling her. She travels well In the car and has experience of living in a home (she's very good!). This girl is very much loved, and we’d love to see her happy and settled in a home of her own forever.
Some points to consider for her new home:
- No children as they scare her.
- Not cat tested.
- Could possibly live with another dog but will need to do a meet first.
Ideally she would be best to be homed with someone who has experience of larger breeds, but if you have rescue experience and the knowledge of larger breeds, let us know and we would love to discuss Carrie further with you.
