DescriptionMaggie is a 7 month old gorgeous girlie who is looking for a home where she can receive the royal princess treatment. She is a beautiful hound mix with a stunning brown/ginger coat set off by a symmetrical triangle of white on her face, showing off some freckles that pepper her nose. Perfect for placing some kisses. her long thin tail always swaying back and forth in contentment, she does still have some growing to do but those big floppy ears will always remain comically oversized.
Originally discovered outside in the rain, Maggie and her sisters Pippa and Cleo were tiny, motherless puppies. It was presumed they were abandoned or their mother was a casualty of the nearby traffic. Starving, dehydrated, and afflicted with a skin condition, they quickly thrived with the diligent care of our veterinary staff. All three dogs were soon adopted, but sadly, Maggie’s new home was not ready for the challenges of raising a puppy. This is a common issue when the commitment and responsibility required to nurture a puppy into a well-adjusted adult are underestimated.
Maggie is thriving in temporary foster care, thanks to one of our amazing volunteers. She’s become part of the pack, especially bonding with Lainie, who’s always up for a game of tug, and Claude, who enjoys sharing his bed for cuddles. Her fosterer is full of praise for Maggie, noting she’s adjusted wonderfully and would seamlessly transition into a permanent home after a brief settling-in phase.
A home with another dog would be great for Maggie, she loves to play and gets on very well with other dogs. As mentioned she loves to play tug with other dogs, often sneaking up and latching into toys so that she can trick Lainie into playing with her. She loves to snuggle up on the sofa with the other dogs, since she is bigger than her friends they sometimes have to work around her to get comfortable. She would be just as happy in a home as the sole dog, basking in all of the attention. We would like to see her still maintain a social life so a walking group or doggy playdates would be perfect.
The perfect home for her would feature a garden where she can lounge in the sun and frolic with a noisy ball—she’s quite taken with one that whistles! She’s a clever one, always rolling the ball around, trying to suss out the source of the sound. She’s sharp and would excel with personalised training; she’s got a nose for adventure, so scent training could really captivate her. Maggie’s even had a jaunt to the local hardware store, where she was the epitome of good manners, though she made sure to give everything a good sniff. You might’ve noticed in her video, she could use a bit of lead training. She’s not one to tug much, but she likes leading the way. With her smarts and youth, she’ll master walking by your side in no time with some steady training.
Maggie has not yet had the chance to encounter any cats, and given her breed, we would err on the side of caution and suggest that a home without cats would be preferable.
Maggie is a delightful girl who has endeared herself to us all, and we earnestly hope she finds a forever home soon. While her Bulldog companions will undoubtedly miss her, we like to think they’ll be sending her off with good wishes on her journey.
Maggie is fully vaccinated, microchipped and blood tested.
