Her Rescue Story – A Tale of Survival and Hope
SONIA’s story is one of unimaginable terror and miraculous survival. She lived in a quiet village with an elderly woman who dedicated her life to rescuing the smallest, most vulnerable stray dogs—those too fragile to fend for themselves.
But one fateful day, tragedy struck. The woman’s adult son, who struggled with schizophrenia but had been stable for years, suffered a catastrophic breakdown after heavy drinking. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, he turned his fury on his mother, chasing her with an axe as she fled to a neighbor’s home for help.
With his mother out of reach, his wrath turned to the innocent creatures in their home. When the police arrived, they were met with a scene of horror: five dogs had been killed and their part were everywhere. Yet miraculously, SONIA and several of her tiny companions managed to hide and survive the nightmare.
Police immediately contacted rescue volunteers, who rushed to the scene and saved the surviving dogs. SONIA was among them. SONIA’s gentle soul remains unbroken and her sweet, loving nature shines brighter than ever. Now safe, she’s ready to find the loving family she so deeply deserves.

SONIA is incredibly human-oriented and adores nothing more than cuddles. Though she can be a bit shy at first, her trust blossoms quickly, and she will happily lean into you for love and reassurance. She’s polite, calm, and delicate—her perfect day includes a warm blanket, a few gentle play sessions, and plenty of affection.
SONIA is well-behaved indoors and walks beautifully on a lead. She’s comfortable with cats and friendly dogs, but she prefers calm companions. She would benefit from having a furry friend to guide her in exploring her new world.
