Mavis - French Bulldog mixed possibly with Pug aged 7 being fostered in Gloucestershire.
Mavis along with another adult Frenchie and 7 puppies were removed from a hoarding type situation where they just wanted the dogs gone. We removed them immediately at they were at risk of being passed on to continue being used for breeding.
We have decided these girls may be better splitting only because of their totally different needs and what we would deem suitable as a good match for them in terms of homing.
Mavis is a very gentle soul, very quiet and obviously traumatized from the life we rescued her from. She is fine with the other Frenchie Tilly and the puppies when they visited but will not accept the other dogs in her foster home I think its fear based from what ever it is she has endured over the last few years.
We are trying to put together the jigsaw of her previous life, the way she walks on a lead and how she is, is not typical ex breeding dog. I suspect she was being sold or given away on the free ads and people pose as loving family homes people believe them and this is a very common story. She is one of the lucky ones that has ended up in the rescue system where her future is now secure.
Mavis will need a quiet gentle home, she is not going to ask a lot but because of us possibly splitting her from Tilly we want her to go to a home where she will be someone's companion, gentle walks, a lovely garden to mooch around in, a loving hand and kindness is all she will require for her life to be perfect.

Since coming into our care, both girls have shown their true, gentle natures, despite their traumatic past.
Mavis arrived with a severe ear infection—one ear particularly bad—that is being treated with a two-week course of medication. Once she is spayed, the vet will investigate further, and we hope this will resolve the issue.
She has also had one ear treated with a month-long medication and will need some dental work to remove a few bad teeth.
She has cataract in one of her eyes but the Vets have advised to leave be.

We’ve started taking them on walks, and they’ve adapted beautifully.
They are calm around cars and walk well on a lead—this, along with their affectionate nature, strongly suggests they were once loved as pets. T
hey are very unlike the frightened, shut-down dogs we’ve helped from puppy farms in the past. These girls have likely experienced the warmth of a home before their lives were turned upside down.

While they haven’t been mixed with other dogs yet—she seems uneasy, especially around larger dogs—they are safely separated in a room off the lounge with a stair gate.
This setup allows them to be part of the family while feeling secure and warm. Interestingly, they were delighted when the puppies from the same rescue visited.
It’s unclear if the puppies are theirs, but they greeted them warmly. Sadly, we suspect the puppies may have been taken away to be sold before being rescued themselves.

Before she leave our care, Mavis will be spayed, vaccinations started, receive flea and worm treatments, and have any necessary dental work completed.
