Baloo is another one of our new boys who we have been assessing. He's been in his foster home for a few weeks and we started to notice a few behaviours that concerned us so we took him to the vets who confirmed our suspicions that he can't hear very much.
We don't know exactly how much he can hear but the vet thinks he can hear very loud higher pitched noises.
Baloo has had the most awful life and was found starved and delirious back in Romania in January. He's now fit and healthy and ready to find his forever family.
He was due to be adopted at the weekend but after finding out the news about his hearing his adopters sadly didn't feel able to take him on due to a lack of experience.
Baloo is a very alert dog and once he's made a bond with someone he will be able to be trained using sign language. He's very smart but at the moment he has times when he's a a little hyper.
Due to his background and the starvation he went through he can be protective around food and safety will need to be paramount until he realises that food is always going to be there. When food is around he struggles to concentrate on anything else.
Baloo will need an experienced adult only and pet free home. Experience with deaf dogs would be useful but is not a must.
He's a beautiful boy who has been through a lot of trauma in his life and will need time to settle in a new home. He will probably raid bins and steal food to begin with until he's learned that he will not ever be hungry again.
Baloo walks well on a lead, he's very people friendly and loves to show you just how much he loves you!! Being partially deaf he can be vocal at times which is normal but again this can all be trained.
He deserves the world and we would love to find that for him.
