Description
Elsa is a 1 year old, medium sized girl. She needs a home with an experienced adopter, and another dog/s. Elsa could live with older, sensible and dog-savvy children who will give her the space she needs to feel safe and secure.
Elsa was rescued as part of a litter of 10 pups, but was the most timid of them all. She has been in foster for a while and has needed all the time in her foster home to gain some confidence before being ready for a forever home.
Over her time in foster care, she has learned to adapt to the world around her; new people, new environments, the TV, and other rooms in the house. Elsa now feels confident enough to explore her home, and walk into a room with the TV on, joining her foster humans and doggy friends for a relaxed evening together.
Elsa still needs help with her confidence, however. When she is scared, her natural instinct is to run away and hide (she's never snappy or reactive).
Due to her timid nature she cannot be allowed off lead on walks, unless in a secure area as she is a flight risk. She can also be quite strong when she is scared and wants to run away, so she really does need someone strong to handle her. Part of her development plan is to help her in situations like this.
When Elsa trusts and knows you, you will see her character shine (she is getting so much more confident at greeting new people now)! She loves a cuddle, so be prepared for your new morning wake up calls... Elsa really is the sweetest girl, and there is so much more that this lady will show us as she blossoms further.
Elsa is house trained, takes treats well, and knows her name. She has learned to play ball with herself, but also enjoys a cheeky game of "steal the toy" when another dog is playing with it (not in an aggressive or guarding way - she's just mischievous). She is brilliant at sharing and can eat beside other dogs with no issues.
We know that Elsa still has more development and confidence growing to do. However, in the right home with the right people, we know that she will continue to excel. She has come so far already, in just a few months.
Elsa's new people will be supported by her foster-mum (a member of the Amicii team), and so it might be easier if her adopters lived within easy travelling distance to the GL19 area (South Worcs/North Glos).
She has been successfully introduced to cats during her time in foster in Romania, and so could potentially live with a cat (but we can't guarantee it).
