DescriptionSenior Ronnie the most gentle wizard you could meet- he makes Dylan from the magic roundabout look hyper 8-10yrs
What better way to start this bio than in the words of his U.K. foster. We can tell you that Ronnie was from a background of neglect & abuse with periods of spasmodic hope but Iād rather celebrate his new found salvation. Without further ado I give you U.K. Ronnie:-
āFrom the moment he arrived he had an aura of being resigned to seeking nothing more than peace and calm. He would come up to me as if to say 'nothing can hurt me more than I have already been'. Visibly and worryingly thin, he was uneasy on his legs, but my other rescue dog could sense he had a spirit which did not mean any harm to anyone or anything and she left him alone to settle from the moment he arrived. It looked like a mutual understanding between the two dogs, which speaks volumes about his nature and instincts.
Within just a matter of days, he would wake up to welcome me for his breakfast in the morning, placing his head on my lap as if to say "hello, and thank you." He was very much due a bath, after living a harsh life on the streets & a chain, and he was good as gold! He just sat in the bath and let me clean him up with not even so much as a grunt! He just looked at me, knowing he wasn't being harmed.
A week after, it was time for his first ever haircut! The professional groomer was so impressed with how he behaved! She has handled hundreds of dogs in this usually- traumatic environment but Ronnie just sat there happily accepting his trim with the electric razor, and being placed into the bath and scrubbed up yet again! He didn't even flinch when the hairdryer was facing him! Which just really goes to show how docile and calm this lad is.
After this, it was time to get more strength into his back legs and I'm pleased to say he has put on a healthy weight and he is so much more confident on his legs, even prancing around the field on walks!
He is now on a balanced diet of 50/50 wet and dry food now he has put a healthy weight on, and he knows when dinner and breakfast time is. He also knows to go to the back door when he needs the toilet! I have been so impressed with him, especially for an older lad who has never known what it's like to live inside a home!
He would be SUCH fantastic company to someone who wants a low maintenance, incredibly friendly furry friend who will come up to you throughout the day to ask for a head-scratch, without the need for any extensive walks as long as there is a
garden to potter around in! He has also become familiar with his bed which was kindly donated by someone and the bed will also come with Ronnie to his new home!
He has so much more to offer and looks and feels like he has a completely new lease of life ahead of him. He has been amazing when introduced to children, and has not shown any signs of being bothered by other dogs. You would not think he is the age he is! He prances around the garden happily, has a spring in his step and is full of love and appreciation! He could happily live alone with his new owner or with another dog without a doubt! He has taken to family/home life like a duck to water and is so visibly appreciative of having warmth, comfort, food, and love. And he reciprocates those comforts back to you without hesitation.ā
One thing is for sure - Ronnie with his 50cm circumference body, leg in air with severe arthritis, body covered in painful thistles & medication needed for ticks was not ok & needed to be rescued.
