Introducing Elsie…..
Arrived in foster in West Yorkshire on 2nd December
We had the privilege of meeting Elsie on our last trip to Romania. She is such a vibrant and cheeky little girl with a big personality. It was difficult to take photos of the other dogs without her photo bombing!!
We now have updates !! From her foster parents:-
Elsie What can I say about Elsie, she arrived a month ago and has well and truly stolen our hearts. After facing so many challenges in her life she is THE sweetest most loving little thing and she is her foster dad’s shadow, definitely a Daddies girl ! She’s settled in nicely with the rest of the pack (4 rescues) and although the smallest (just) can seriously hold her own. From the very first night, she went to sleep and we didn’t here a peep out of her, but she does needs to be covered up and tucked in as she hates the cold. After a week or so she worked out how to do the stairs and now sleeps in her bed in our bedroom with the rest of our dogs. Her hobbies include snuggling up on the sofa, enjoying belly rubs and kisses. She travels well in the car and even with her wobbly back legs she kept up with the pack and enjoyed her first day on the beach. She didn’t react to other dogs but was a little bit cautious if any came running up. She is pretty much house trained and 90 % of the time runs out into the garden to do her business with the rest of the gang. But as she hates the cold, and to be fair she arrived with the storms, she just needs taking outside and leading to the grass then she’s fine and always expects a treat afterwords. She loves her food and is learning about manners when the grown ups are eating. She can be left for short periods of time and I feel she could be an only dog if her new family were home full time, or she could easily live in a little pack. She has been absolutely fine with visitors over Christmas just taking everything in her Elsie stride. She didn’t like the squeaky toys that Santa brought her foster brother and sisters but did get better with them eventually. One thing is for sure she deserves to be thoroughly spoiled as she has loads of love to give. For us she us just perfect
History
A friend of our rescuer was coming home from work at night and saw Elsie lying by the side of the road, She initially thought she was dead but thankfully she was still breathing. She was emaciated, covered in parasites and we believe she had been clipped by a car. Our rescuer thinks she had lain down to die. She had no fight left.
But down to the extraordinary nature of Elsie she saw a light and fought to stay with us. We are so very glad that she did.
