DescriptionTilly is a lovely Jack Russell Terrier Mix with some beautiful markings, mostly white fur but with some lovely black and dark brown markings on her face, including a unique light brown outline on her dark ears. She has truly charmed us all at the kennels and is a well loved resident.
Tilly was discovered by a rescuer on the roadside during a downpour, accompanied by two small puppies. It’s believed she was abandoned shortly before her discovery, as she wandered aimlessly, clearly in distress, not seeking shelter for herself and her puppies. Disoriented and distrustful, she posed a challenge for our team who struggled to coax her into the car, as she steered clear of the intimidating strangers trying to capture her.
Unfortunately we had to use her puppies as leverage. We placed them in the back of our car with a window open, so their cries would reach her. Then, we drove the car to our kennels, using the sound of her puppies to guide her, with another vehicle trailing to ensure traffic moved slowly and she remained safe. It was tough to see her desperately chasing the car, but it was crucial for their safety.
For more than a month, Tilly has been a dedicated mother to her puppies at our kennels. Now that her puppies are independent, we believe it’s time for Tilly to find someone who will care for her. It’s likely she was a family pet before she was abandoned, as she thrives on human interaction and is always eager for affection. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys human companionship, making her a favourite among our kennel staff who all adore her. She is a really special girl who is adored by all who meet her.
She’s been wonderful with the children who often accompany our vet during dog visits, showing remarkable gentleness and patience. We feel assured in recommending her for a household with children, even those as young as five years old.
Tilly does fancy herself as a bit of a Houdini, she has a habit of trying her luck with the fences and will get out if given the opportunity. We will need her future owner to be on top of this, well build garden walls and possibly using a long line lead while she is in the garden, just in case. For her small stature she has very springy legs and isn’t afraid to use them.
Amidst the current heat in Macedonia, it’s become clear that Tilly adores water. She would be thrilled with a home where a paddling pool is set up for her in the summer, though she’s just as happy with a small bucket. Below is a video of her relishing her own personal little spa.
She would do well in a home with another dog, but would be happy as the sole pet to bask in the royal treatment she truly deserves. She enjoys her walks and exploring her surroundings, happily ambling alongside her walker. She’s the perfect companion for day trips, ready to share adventures with her new family. We can see her tagging along to a trip to the garden centre or round the local park.
Tilly’s kryptonite? Cats. A home with feline residents is a no-go for her. She’s not a fan, not even a tiny bit.
