Description
Rolo – 7-Year-Old Miniature Poodle (Fostered in Gloucestershire)
Rolo is a sweet-natured, 7-year-old Miniature Poodle who has had a tough start but is slowly finding his feet again.
He came into our care after his owner sadly passed away, having lived on a smallholding with his companion, Ruby.
When Rolo and Ruby arrived, their coats were in an awful state—severely matted and caked in mud and faeces, making even the smallest movement uncomfortable.
It took nearly a whole afternoon of careful bathing and clipping, with plenty of breaks to keep them as relaxed as possible, to free them from the mess.

Sadly, we had to separate them, as Ruby was coming into season while Rolo was still entire.
They’ve had a few reunions since, always happy to see each other, but they are adjusting to life apart.
Rolo is the more confident of the two—a gentle little lad with no malice in him.
He is still a bit unsure with new people, and we don’t think we’ve fully seen the real Rolo just yet.
He is still figuring out what life is all about and what it means to feel completely safe and happy.
Like many Poodles, Rolo is very attached to his people and loves to be close. His house training has improved since being neutered, and he’s now traveling much better in the car—he used to drool with stress, but that has eased.

He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and those he has met on his journey so far.
Rolo would love a home with another dog or dogs to give him confidence, and in an ideal world, we would love to see him and Ruby rehomed together, though we know that may not be possible.
Rolo has had a full health check, been neutered, and had a couple of lumps removed (which turned out to be harmless cysts, most likely caused by his previously poor coat condition).
We will continue to update as he progresses, but if you feel you could offer Rolo the loving, experienced home he deserves, please get in touch.
