Winnie is a 4 year old, terrier type dog, who is small in size. She needs a strictly adult only home. She is petrified of dogs and children, and so she needs to be given a home where she can avoid these. Ideally, we'd like to find her a home with a good sized garden for her to potter about in, or a very quiet area where she can be walked without meeting other dogs.
Poor Winnie had a bad experience with children from a young age, and is now terrified of them. She also had a bad experience with dogs. In all, she is a vulnerable little doggy who needs a home where she feels safe. This home could be as a foster with a view to adopt type arrangement... with adoption depending on everyone being happy.
Winnie needs a quiet home, with few visitors (certainly in the first instance while she decompresses from the recent transitions in her life). We don't think she needs daily walks, as long as she has a good sized garden (for a little dog), some enrichment games, and someone at home a lot for her to be cuddly with. When she bonds with you, she absolutely loves her people and being with them!
She really is a very sweet little girl, but she is scared and needs people to nurture her and love her in a gentle and patient way. Winnie is on medication to help her nerves.
It is possible that working with a qualified behaviourist could help her, but this could be a very long and tough route for a new guardian to take on. Therefore, the alternative option is just to find her a home where she can avoid her fears. Possible scenarios that could work for her include: a retired couple/person, or an individual who lives alone and would like the company, or a person/people who work from home.
We hope we can find her the right people to love her, and be loved by her in return. She really is an absolute darling little lady.
