Description

Sadly due to moving house I have to rehome my wonderful cat, Monty. I should begin by saying Monty is a very particular little guy so if you’re looking for an affectionate house cat you can pick up and cuddle, read no further! He won't be the right cat for you. Monty is a 7 year old British long hair. I adopted him at 1 year old and his first owner was an elderly lady with dementia who I don’t think was able to socialise him properly. As a result he’s a very shy cat, who does best when around 1 or 2 adults maximum in a quiet house. He will take a little while to warm up to you, but when he does it feels really special to be the trusted human for this gentle little soul. He is a very polite fella, won’t ruin any carpets or furniture. He likes places to get up high and watch what’s happening, he especially loves his wall-mounted cat tree with a hammock at the top to look out of the window. He doesn't like being picked up. He’s a stickler for his routine, so will sit patiently beside your bed in the morning until you play laser with him, and come bed time he will wait until you’re tucked into bed before he’ll jump on a snuggle in and no doubt pass out in a big ball of floof. Bed time is when he does become really affectionate. He loves to be groomed. His hair is incredibly fine and soft and rarely matts if you groom him semi-regularly. I will give you all the different brushes I have. He’s not a big eater, helps himself to dry biscuits when he wants to, and won’t nag you at meal times. Since I’ve had him, he’s been in brilliant health and has never had to go to the vet. He had fleas when I adopted him at age 1, but once treated he has never had them again. He was micro-chipped by his first owners and has been insured since I adopted him. He’s a house cat through and through, but if I leave the door open to my balcony in warm weather he will sit outside and sometimes venture onto the flat roof below to enjoy the view. He has never ventured further, as the safety of home is where he does best. He really does need a peaceful home with no children and no other pets. That’s not to say you can’t have visitors, so long as Monty has plenty of quiet places to retreat to out of the way. So yes, he is a rather quirky cat, but he is a very peaceful, un-demanding companion who will need a very special home for the second half of his life. Please only enquire if you think you can give him the type of home he needs!
