About Dax
Dax is a beautiful dog who was rescued as a stray and brought into the shelter after the vet confirmed he had no microchip. He arrived at the very end of the year, so he didn’t exactly see in 2025 in the most positive way. He flew to his new forever home on the 30th March, but heartbreakingly he has been surrendered as his family don’t feel they can offer him the lifestyle and environment he needs.
Dax is looking for a calm, patient home that can offer him the time and understanding he needs to adjust to a very strange and unfamiliar companion lifestyle. This is something he’s never known before, and he needs a lot of reassurance and guidance to learn that he is safe and that everything is going to be okay. At present he is living in a more urban setting where there are lots of noises that are causing him a lot of concern. We think a semi-rural home in a calmer location would really help Dax find his feet.
Dax is a head turner for sure and he resembles a wolf. He’s also the proud owner of the world’s most expressive ears and the cutest head tilt. He found the shelter to be very overwhelming to start with and it took a while for him to come out of his shell, but he’s adjusted well over the past few weeks and we can really see his cheeky personality starting to shine through now. He’s a very funny boy with a silly nature, and he gets very excited to meet new people. He is however a little submissive with other dogs, and sometimes this can lead to him being bullied among more confident characters.
Despite this, you can also see that Dax gains confidence in the company of other dogs and he observes their behaviour before mimicking it in situations he’s not sure about. Right now, he’s the only resident dog in his current home, and seeing how he’s struggled we think another pup in the home could really help him build confidence. Dax is also more unsure of men than women, and needs more time to form a trusting bond with them. He’s just anxious, and needs some time, poor boy.
We’re not sure of Dax’s history, but he seems to have had little training and is therefore a bit unsure about things like walking on the lead, so will need a bit of guidance and reassurance in his new home. He has already mastered toilet training and is comfortable with his harness and lead when going outside, after just one week of getting used to it!
Dax would be best suited to a home outside of the city where it’s a bit calmer and quieter. He would welcome a semi-rural surrounding area, a garden, and a moderately active lifestyle with a family prepared to do some entry level training. He’ll need a little patience as he adjusts from shelter dog to companion, but he has so much potential and will blossom given the opportunity.
Dax is currently based in Leeds and has a clean bill of health. We are urgently seeking a foster or forever home for him.
