We are heartbroken to be be searching for a new home for our dog Jess. She has been with us since she was a puppy and we have many happy memories together. She is now 5 years old and is very calm and content. She loves going for walks as well as relaxing at home.
I have been taking Jess to work with me since she was a puppy but there have been 2 recent incidents which have led to this no longer being an option. I work with young children and until very recently Jess has been 'bomb-proof' and have had no issues. However, a few weeks ago she growled and snarled at a child who approached her from behind and today she snapped at a child who went to stroke her when she was eating. I realise these are not serious behaviours and Jess hasn't really committed a crime but she cannot come with me to work any longer and I do not want to leave her alone at home all day.
She is a great dog and walks off-lead perfectly. She comes back with a whistle or a simple 'come'. She gets on with other dogs if they are calm and playful although is intimidated by bigger dogs. Jess rarely barks and is fine left on her own as long as she has had a good walk before hand. She is clean and doesn't shed her fur.
I think she would be very happy living with a grown up family with a settled lifestyle. She seems not to enjoy the company of young children anymore. We are not looking to sell Jess but would love her to go to a loving new home - she is the most loyal and loving dog you could ever ask for.
