Rex is 3 years old and medium in size. He cannot live with cats or small furries, however could live with another dog pending proper introductions. Rex can jump up at people, and so may be best to live with older, more robust dog-savvy children. He would prefer a rural or semi rural location as big lorries and buses scare him.
This super boy is being rehomed through no fault of his own. Sadly, his owner is currently homeless and he cannot stay with her. The whole situation is devastating for all concerned.
At present, Rex is staying in a temporary foster home, and we are hoping to avoid him coming to kennels. If you can foster Rex, that would also be helpful for him, although the main hope is that he will find his forever person/people.
Rex is a lovely boy who loves to be out and about in the countryside. He loves running along with a ball and playing. As a clever young man, he is also keen to use his brains with 'thinking' games. There is a lot of interactive fun to be had with this boy!
He loves people and just wants love from everyone he meets. However much he loves being with his humans, his recall is hit and miss. Therefore he is normally walked on a long line in quieter areas (with it trailing behind him), or off lead in secure fields. However, if he has no distractions, he will recall to whistle.
Rex knows his basic commands; "sit," "lie down," and "wait" (unless it's laminate floor, where he's not keen to lie on it). He is crate trained and loves going in there to sleep, and he also has his food in there. Rex LOVES his food and will inhale it if he can, therefore he eats from a slow feeder, a snuffle mat or scattered in the garden.
He can get on with other dogs and has lived with one previously. However, he also needs proper introductions and time to adjust, as he does get a bit fearful if they are bolshy.
