Description
Due to a tragic change in circumstances whereby Marcus’ family now have to care for a baby, we need to find Marcus a new safe and loving home.
Marcus is a beautiful ginger and white Kokoni, who has been with his current family in the UK for nearly 4 years. He is full of fun and loves to play, but does have a few special requirements like most of us! He is small in size, around 7.5kg but thinks that he is a much bigger dog at times.
Marcus is an absolute goofball of a boy, one who never read any of the information manuals on Kokonis when he left Cyprus! For instance, most Kokonis hate getting wet or muddy but Marcus simply charges through puddles without noticing, such is his zest for life. He’s not too keen on the after-walk wash, but will comply and have his paws cleaned in the dog bath/shower.
He adores a game of tug, is amazing at tricks such as walking on your feet or spinning around and can sit and shake hands. He loves mini dog agility; for example, tunnels are fun to charge through, he jumps over little jumps and he is getting good at weaving around poles in the garden. He gets very excited doing these things! He enjoys going out for walkies and sniffs and happily walks for miles on the lead; although he gets a bit excited and pulls a little on the way out, he calms down on the way back home and enjoys his walks.
He loves a comfy chair but might not want to share it and definitely won’t share his food with anyone. He will guard high value treats such as chews or bones. He is also wary of feet near to him if he is lying on the floor and tends to be a bit precious about his gorgeous floofy tail, he worries about it being stood on. He is an anxious little boy who can be quite fear-reactive and he will sometimes snap if he feels threatened. He isn’t good on walks if he meets someone, he gets worked up and barks at people or other dogs. Once introduced however he sometimes calms down, if he likes the people/dogs in question. Visitors to the house are treated to a volley of barks until Marcus has been properly introduced, then he calms down, until they get ready to go home… The postman also gets a regular shouting as do delivery drivers as Marcus is is quite fearful of strangers. He is best as an only animal in the house, as he has decided that cats now need an occasional chase, much to their disgust.
His owner has worked hard with him and he will accept hand feeding (great for taking meds) and he will now allow a brush on his beautiful fluffy coat and ears.
Marcus is clean and dry in the house, he happily takes himself out to the secure back garden through the dog flap :)
He is still a young dog, with so much energy and love to give, he really is a proper loving fluff-pot. He reacts really well to TTouch and gentle massages and find these relaxing. Whilst Marcus comes across as a bit of a “hard man”, he actually needs lots of loves and touches but sometimes doesn’t know how to ask for it. Deep down he is an emotional little boy who is unsure of how to behave, but with coaxing and loving he learns to trust and enjoy the contact.
Oh and he loves the telly or screens, he gets quite excited watching TV! Sometimes he shouts at animals on the screen, but the family have have worked on this and he now can sit quietly on the armchair and seems to enjoy the programmes!
We would like to find a loving home for Marcus . He would benefit from someone being home a lot of the time and not been left alone for long . Marcus would suit a mature quiet household that will enjoy to take him on walks in the woods or beach adventures.
Marcus would need a secure garden where he can play and chase a ball ...
