Meet Bento – A Loving, Intelligent Doggo Looking for His Forever Home
We are looking for the right home for Bento, our affectionate, active, and highly intelligent 1-year-old male dog. Bento has a wonderful temperament, but our home environment has not been ideal for him, and we want to find a family who can meet his needs and give him the structured, active lifestyle he deserves.
About Bento:
Breed: A unique mix of Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Labrador Retriever, and German Shepherd. He was sold to us as 3/4 'Tamaskan' and 1/4 black labrador, we had a Wisdom Panel DNA test done.
Color: Black with striking upright ears
Age: 1 year, 3 months (adolescent, but maturing quickly)
Size: Large (33kg)
Health: Fully recovered from knee surgery as a puppy, though he may occasionally experience stiffness after long walks
Bento’s Best Qualities:
✅ Loving and affectionate – He adores human attention and thrives on companionship
✅ Highly intelligent and trainable – He learns new tricks and skills quickly and often anticipates what you want
✅ Non-aggressive and non-reactive – He has never shown aggression toward people or other animals
✅ No guarding tendencies – He is happy to share food and toys
✅ Gets along well with other dogs and is always eager to play.
✅ Not hyperactive all day – Despite his energy, he spends a lot of time relaxing and napping at home
✅ Has lived in a family environment – He has been around 3 adults, 2 children, and cats (however we wouldn't recommend a home with small children or cats as he can be boisterous).
✅ Calm When Given Proper Exercise: While he has been too energetic for our household, we believe his high energy is largely due to not getting the amount of exercise he truly needs. When walked regularly, he is generally calm, and as he reaches the end of his adolescent phase, he is showing signs of maturing.
✅ Sleeps Well During the Day: When he gets his exercise and mental stimulation, he is happy to relax and nap for long periods.
Training & Behavior:
📖 He is eager to learn and responds well to training when engaged
📖 He is best suited to a home where training is consistent, due to his intelligence he can become mischievous if bored.
📖 He enjoys off-lead exercise and socializing with other dogs.
📖 He has a tendency to pull on lead which given his size can be a handful for some people.
Separation Anxiety: He struggles with being left alone and may howl or chew things when anxious. His new home should be prepared to work on this with patience and training.
What Bento Needs in a Home:
🏡 An experienced owner who understands energetic breeds and can provide structure
🚶♂ Daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy and calm
⏳ A home where he won’t be left alone for long periods, as he struggles with separation anxiety
🧒 Best suited to a home with older children or adults, as his excitement may overwhelm young kids
🐶 A household without small pets (he chases cats and wants to play), but he gets along well with other dogs and could thrive with a canine friend.
Rehoming Details:
💰 Rehoming Fee – Price is to deter time-wasters and unethical buyers.
🤝 Transitional Support – We are happy to work with his new family to help him adjust to his new home.
Bento is a fantastic dog with so much love to give, and we want to find him the best possible home where he can thrive. If you think you could be the right match for him, please get in touch! 😊
