Kent About Rocky Rocky is a five year old Staffie based in Ashford, Kent, who’s looking for a new home due to the arrival of a baby with a respiratory problem. Sadly, Rocky’s fur is exacerbating her condition so unfortunately, he is looking for a new forever home. He’s been much loved since he was just eight weeks old so it has of course been a hard decision for the family, but one made with Rocky’s happiness in mind. Rocky is a friendly, affectionate boy who thrives on human interaction. He absolutely loves being around people and enjoys nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa after a walk or a good play session. He matches the energy of the people around him - he’ll happily bounce around chasing toys one minute and be stretched out beside you the next. He’s a great companion for someone who wants both fun and calm in equal measure. Rocky has been in frequent contact with children since he was a puppy and is great with kids. He’s gentle and playful, but also patient and steady. He would welcome a home with children who would love to play with him and give him lots of fuss and attention. He is very loyal to those he loves. Rocky is also fine to be left on his own for a few hours and settles well at home. Out and about, Rocky needs a confident handler. He is strong on the lead and ideally this needs some work to make walks a bit more enjoyable. He is however good off-lead when in the park or field and he does have good recall. Rocky can get spooked by loud noises and would therefore be happier in a calmer or semi-rural area where it’s not too loud and busy. He does like to chase birds and squirrels given the chance! He loves his toys, particularly if there’s a game of fetch or tug involved, and his food motivation makes him a fun dog to train. He already knows a number of commands and tricks, including sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “speak”, and he’ll happily show them off for the right reward. While Rocky mostly gets on well with other dogs, he can sometimes be unpredictable, particularly if he feels unsure. He was attacked by other dogs when he was younger, and those early experiences have left their mark. He’s generally sociable but would benefit from calm, structured introductions to other dogs going forward. Rocky hasn’t lived with cats, so we’d suggest a cat-free home for now. As mentioned, he can also be sensitive to loud noises. From experience, fireworks, motorbikes and similar sounds may cause him to retreat or seek reassurance. A calm, predictable home environment will help him feel safe and secure. Rocky is housetrained, vaccinated, neutered and up to date on all his treatments. He’s looking for a home with a garden or access to outdoor space, and ideally with someone who’s confident managing a strong dog on the lead. Whether you’re a family or a solo adopter, Rocky will thrive in a home where he gets attention, affection, and regular time outdoors. He’s a typical Staffie, full of love, muscle and cuddles! He’s a loyal, loving and playful companion who’s ready for the next chapter. With the right support and someone who’s happy to continue building on the basics, Rocky has everything it takes to be a fantastic addition to the right home.
