Please meet Russell 🐶
Two year old Russell’s journey hasn’t been easy, but this resilient little dog has shown incredible strength and love despite his difficult start in life. Found wandering the streets of Romania in the summer of 2023, his skin was in terrible condition, with sore patches and bald spots. Diagnosed with Malassezia, a manageable skin condition, Russell has come a long way under the care of our dedicated rescuer, Alina. Today, he’s in the best condition he’s ever been in, and we’re searching for a special adopter who will continue to give him the love and care he deserves.
Russell is a friendly and affectionate boy, weighing just 11kg. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, loves to play, and has a calm, gentle nature. Living in Alina’s home, he’s proved to be great with cats too, happily coexisting with them. Though he’s tried walking on a lead and wasn’t a fan at first, he’s shown he’s willing to learn and adapt with a little patience and encouragement.
To manage his skin condition, Russell benefits from regular baths with a chlorhexidine shampoo and the occasional use of a spray during mild flare-ups. When flare-ups are more severe (which is rare), Alina has followed a vet-recommended treatment plan that includes short courses of medication. Thankfully, Russell has responded well to care, and most of the time, simple preventative measures like bathing are enough to keep him comfortable. A clean home environment would be ideal for him, as the dusty conditions at the shelter can trigger his symptoms.
Despite everything he’s been through, Russell’s love for life and people is truly inspiring. He’s friendly, playful, and ready to bring so much joy to the right family. We’d love to see him settle into a forever home where he can continue to thrive. With his calm demeanor and loving personality, he’s sure to become a cherished member of any household.
