Louie is a large 39 kilo teddy bear of a dog, 4 years old, and we believe a Retriever cross
He has been with his family since he was 4 month old puppy and now we need to find him another wonderful forever home
From his current family
Louie is a big love bug, there is nothing more he likes than to be snuggled up with someone, he is such a loving, fun dog with loads of personality.
He is good with other dogs and cats, he is the groomer of the house, he likes to clean and look after the other animals and me!
He is ok being left in the house and ok with noises, like traffic, fireworks etc.
On walks he is very excitable, if he sees another dog he really wants to say hello and can be quite vocal, not barking, it's more of an excitable howl.
He is 39 Kg and strong, I walk him on a figure of 8 lead to manage his strength. He loves people and will want to approach them for love, I don't let him off the lead unless in a secure field as he loves people and jumps up at them, because of his size I worry he could knock someone over. When in a secure field his recall is very good, and thrives on love and treats.
When people come to the house he naturally wants to jump up at them, we have been working on this by turning backs and ignoring him until he settles, this has improved greatly but still needs to be continued.
He is good with children but does not know his size and will knock them over in a playful way.
Louie is naturally very protective, my son and I were playing and my son slapped my leg in play, Louie nipped him to tell him off, it wasn't aggressive but it was a pack leader putting a puppy in its place, this didn't break the skin but did mark him, Louie needs a house with no young energetic children.
I keep the bin in a cupboard as Louie does like a good bin.
Louie is an amazing dog and who ever adopts him will be very fortunate, Louie will love the bones off them and be a very loyal
We are looking for an active family, who has experience to manage and large size dog and continue with his training
Louie vaccinations are up to date, neutered, microchip and very healthy with his full medical history.
