Description
Oskar came to us from Ukraine, back in October 2021. He had his own little quirks and ‘issues’ when we first got him but we got a dog behaviourist in, and honestly the Oskar today is unrecognisable from the Oskar we got. He didn’t trust anybody, wouldn’t take food/eat unless you weren’t looking and now he’s sat waiting to be told it’s okay to eat rather than snatching! He lived temporarily with a much bigger shepherd - who we fostered for a couple of months. This dog was extremely reactive to pretty much everything but her and Oskar got on exceptionally well. Oskar is a fairly lazy dog for a shepherd. If we take him out an hours hike he wants to stop at least 2/3 times in the way!! He’s not scared of anything that we know about, not bothered by fireworks or being left alone. He can be ‘reactive’ to dogs, but only from a distance and it’s an excited reaction we have come to find out. Because of his breed and the over excitement, people wouldn’t bring their dogs near. But we’ve got a few friends with dogs and now Oskar has realised he can meet up with them, he’s absolutely fine. He just goes crazy until he gets to play!! He’s currently raw fed but I am more than happy to wean him to biscuits if an adopter would prefer that - I know not everybody agrees with raw fed, but when we first got him it was the only thing he’d eat! This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, because Oskar is genuinely a best little mate. We had a baby, 4 months old - and we were worried how Oskar would react to the new addition. He absolutely loves attention so we were worried he wouldn’t like it! But he’s been absolutely fine - the ONLY reason for putting Oskar up for adoption is because I don’t feel we give him the life he deserves. He just needs someone loving to cuddle up to every minute he can get.
