LUCKY IS IN THE CARE OF LURCHER LINK RESCUE
Lucky is a slender boy of about 24-25" to the shoulder and weighs about 20kg.
Lucky has made great progress from the terrified little boy who first arrived at Lurcher Link Rescue quite a while ago. He's much more relaxed, and used to living in the main house with 8 other dogs. He's toilet trained, crate-trained and used to a routine.
Lucky recently spent a couple of weeks in a new home. He sadly had to be returned, due to sad circumstances and no fault of his own (or the potential adopters).
They said: "Lucky is a very loving, intelligent, funny lad, who keeps us on our toes; it's not been all plain sailing as is expected with any rescue. He has improved massively, with traffic in our village, even the noisy farm vehicles, he can be reactive to some people and, noisy dogs and unsure of children but, relaxed while we chat to understanding friends...........with someone who understands him, has plenty of time to work with him, he will be the most wonderful companion."
Considering that Lucky was only there for a few weeks he made great progress. He's still a sensitive, boy and takes a while to trust new people; but it just shows what could be achieved with him if someone patient and kind takes him on, who understands that he needs time and space to build his confidence.
Lucky is not used to being left home alone for very long at the moment, new owners will have to work on building up the time he is left. Its not at all unusual for any new rescue dog to be "clingy" at first in a new home because their whole world has been turned upside down; with time and patience spent building up their confidence, and not rushing it, this generally improves.
Lucky needs a quiet, calm home where he can have his own space, so for this reason he is not suitable to live with young, noisy children. He does not like "in-your-face" dogs and is not suitable to live in busy urban areas (He gets very wound up by lots going on; and can get defensive).
Lucky can be friendly with calm female dogs, so may be suitable to live with one. He does not want to live with another male dog though.
Lucky is fine travelling in a car.
Not suitable to live with cats or any other small animals.
