Joey, 5 yr old 15hh thoroughbred gelding, he doesn’t know he’s a thoroughbred, he’s never been raced, he is so chilled and laid back. I have long reined him, he walks on and stands instantly, I have lunged him but my arena is too wet at the moment, I have lead him out in a group for hacks, he is not bothered by anything, we are jumping on and off him after his training sessions, he is calm and accepting of his riders (3 of us have been on) he will walk on with a rider and stop when asked, this is as far as we have got. See video. He hasn’t ever done anything wrong, I’m just old! I’m 54, I work full time, I have 8 horses on 3 acres of land. Ive been keeping horses for other people to ride and it’s time for change. I have no doubt Joey will go on to do whatever you want him to do. Would suit confident teenager. He is very gentle, has a kind face, he’s a saint to handle. Teeth were done in august, he had to be sedated for that as he’d never been done and he needed a lot of work. Good hard round barefoot feet. He’s been a bit accident prone in his previous home and has some white hair on his leg where he cut himself on some barbed wire, so he’s not show quality. No novices please, he needs someone skilled in bringing backed horses on. He is happiest when he’s with another quiet pony or horse, he wouldn’t like to live alone. Very low mileage, he’s a blank canvas for someone. I have slowly taught him the basics. I can show you exactly where he’s at in his education.
