Tara is a beautiful female Akita who is just 2 years of age. Sadly due to a change in family circumstances she is not getting the time and attention that she deserves.
When meeting new people she is initially very shy, nervous and very submissive. However she soon relaxes and the way to her heart is by picking up her lead and to head out on a walk. After the initial excitement of going out on a new adventure she walks like a dream on the lead.
She is playful, curious and engaging once she emerges from her shell. She adores interaction and once she has taken a little time to get to know you gets excited for toys, she enjoyed a game with a tug toy with our assessors.
Tara loves interacting with other dogs and has a weekly play date with others in a fenced area. With this in mind we feel that she could live with a male canine companion if introductions are successful. As she is a girl that needs some confidence building we feel that she would be better in and adult only home or where the children are aged over 12 years and are large breed aware. She is not tested around cats.
Tara is left alone for 4 hours and is not destructive. After the initial nervousness of getting in the car she travels well. She is gentle with food and takes treats nicely.
Tara is looking for a home where she will get lavished with the attention that she deserves, she will be a wonderful addition to some lucky persons life.
Our assessors said that Tara is the most beautiful soul who needs more interaction than she is currently receiving. If they didn't already have their own dogs they would have brought her home in a heartbeat.
