Poppy is a female mixed breed of 8years.
Poppy is a lovely and gentle dog and she is a dream to have in the house, super chilled and very respectful.
Poppy likes her own space but also likes to her humans to be nearby and likes to spend most of her days lying on the sofa or in her bed, she does not fuss or run around demanding attention. Poppy is a very sensitive dog and with this comes a level of anxiety and she is cautious about new things. Poppy likes her space and does not like to be over fussed.
Poppy generally loves being around people, but can be territorial when strangers first come to her home but once she has got used to them (normally dependent on how comfortable they are with her or if they respect her space), she settles very quickly. Outside the house she is very friendly with people, although she will react to builders and posties.
When up for a fuss, Poppy likes having her belly and ears tickled.
Poppy is reactive with other dogs and this has progressed with her current owner but it is felt that this is fear of the unknown vs dogs in general, she used to be very playful with other dogs, but now she is fearful - she is particularly fearful of German Shepherds, Huskies and Greyhounds.
Poppy knows a number of commands e.g. stay (staying at home), wait (crossing the road, or in general), hungry, dinner, 'go out', no, 'yes', sit., paw.
Due to her anxieties, Poppy has become more particular about where she likes to walk, she is fearful of main roads, and especially motorbikes, but since she has been on Reconcile (2.5 months now), her anxiety has settled but there are still a few limitations for her and she likes walking around the quieter streets and just loves good run around in open green spaces.
Poppy can easily be left alone for a few hours with no separation anxiety.
Poppy has become nervous with car travel, so will need to become accustomed to nice experiences in the car once again.
Poppy is looking for a confident family that help her and boost her confidence levels.
