Description
Dexter is a handsome blond with a fun-loving attitude, the perfect companion for anyone looking for a lively, playful dog. A stunning cocker spaniel, he boasts all the typical traits that make the breed so beloved – a gorgeous golden coat, long, floppy ears, and mischievous eyes. Who wouldn’t want this charming sidekick?
Sadly, Dexter is in need of a new home due to being rehomed from the family he’s been with since he was a puppy. Unfortunately, he’s not getting the physical or mental stimulation he needs, so he’s looking for a family who can provide him with the structure, boundaries, and care that will allow him to truly flourish. His current owners have done a great job in setting him up for success by feeding him a healthy raw food diet, which we’d love to see continued in his forever home. This diet has helped him maintain excellent health, and he’s in tip-top condition. An active home is a must for Dexter.
Currently living with another male dog, Dexter has shown some dominant behaviour, so we think he would be best suited to a home with a female dog, given his high energy and playful nature, we think he would prefer a home with a canine friend, we always recommend a meet and greet on neutral ground to make sure that both dogs get a positive impression. He mixes well with other dogs outside the home, is polite off-lead, and does well during pack walks, though we recommend using a long line lead for added safety.
Our trainer has assessed Dexter and believes he’s a fantastic character who just needs a little guidance. Ideally, we’d love his new owner to have previous experience with working breeds and be willing to follow a training plan if necessary as Dexter can be protective over high value treats. Dexter is great with children, and his energy would be perfect for kids who enjoy playing in the garden. Ideally, children should be over 12, but we would consider younger children if they have prior dog experience.
Unfortunately, Dexter is not suited to a home with cats or small animals.
