There are some very beautiful regions in the UK all of which offer a unique and diverse view of the country. From mountainous areas to moorlands, superb coastlines, bays and beaches to tranquil, lush forests in idyllic settings. Then there's the Lake District which has to be one of the most popular holiday destinations yet it remains an unspoilt corner of the land where the fauna and flora thrives.
The Lake District has a lot to boast about and it's the perfect place to spend some quality time away from it all with your canine companion. The good news is there's a fabulous choice of pet-friendly holiday cottages in the region whether around Keswick or near Lake Windermere, you'll find the perfect cottage to use as your base for a brilliant, relaxing time away on a well deserved holiday.
If there is one thing the region is not short of it is dog-friendly walks which take you through stunning landscapes where the scenery is breathtaking. Needless to say where owners marvel at the views, their canine companions will have just as much fun following their noses as they track down all those new scents which is why taking a well earned break in the Lake District with your pet is as much fun for them as it is for you.
Another great thing about walking the hills of the Lake District is that when you think it's time for a break there are a multitude of pubs dotted around the area that welcome dogs in bar areas with open arms. However, if the weather is fine there's nothing nicer than sitting outside enjoying the flavours of the region in a beer garden.
Lots of holiday cottages in the region are part of the Welcome Pets! scheme which makes finding accommodation in a chosen area that much easier. If you are looking for the perfect holiday destination in the Lake District where your dog would be welcome, it's well worth checking the following establishments out.
Just south of the lovely town of Keswick you'll find the Royal Oak which is one of the traditional Lakeland hotels in the region. It was once a farmhouse and miners tavern, but today this 18th century hotel makes for a great base where dogs are more than welcome to accompany their owners on a Lake District adventure. It's a family run affair which means the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the hotel's location means there are plenty of exhilarating walks on the doorstep.
